Record your opening stock
For the owner or manager, once, on the day you start using SalesDue.
When you need this
Your products are in SalesDue (see Add your products and prices), and now SalesDue needs to know how many of each you have on the shelves and in the store room. Count them, then record the counts here, before the first sale. From then on, each sale takes its quantity off.
Count the products you keep track of: the ones with Track inventory on. The form lets you pick any product, so leave out the ones you don't count.
Steps
- Count what you have of each product. Do it when the shop is closed, so nothing is sold while you count.
- In the menu, open Inventory, then the Adjustments tab.
- Press New Adjustment. The screen says New Stock Adjustment.
- Check Location is the shop you counted. With more than one shop, pick it from the list.
- Set Date to the day you counted.
- Under Reason, pick Adjustment. Then under Type, pick Increase.
- In Description, type
Opening stock, so you can find it later. - Under Items, type a product's name in Search item by name... and pick it from the list.
- Type the number you counted in its Qty.
- Repeat steps 8 and 9 for every product you counted.
- Press Save.
What you should see
- Saved, and the Stock Adjustments list with your adjustment in it. Press IN to see only stock that came in.
- On the Inventory tab, each product with the quantity you counted.
If something goes wrong
- Save can't be pressed: something is missing. Check Location, Date, Reason (and Type), and that at least one product is under Items.
- There's no Items card: the shop has no currency rate set up yet, even if it has a main currency. Add one first (see Currencies and taxes), then start again.
- A product isn't found in Search item by name...: it isn't in SalesDue yet, or is spelt differently. Add it under Products first.
- A quantity is wrong after you saved: don't change the old adjustment. Make another one for the difference: Reason Adjustment, Type Increase if you counted too few, Decrease if you counted too many.
- New Adjustment can't be pressed, or your shop isn't under Location: your role can't change stock at that shop. Ask the owner.
